Freebie Back to School: Printable Craft Activities for Kids' Day of Fun!

As the back-to-school time approaches, it's time to think about beginning of the year activities to make an enjoyable first day and week of school (maybe even month!). Whether you're a teacher preparing for the classroom or a homeschooling parent ready to start on a new academic adventure, these printable crafts are designed to make the start of the school year a joyous occasion. Join us as we explore three fantastic craft activities that not only teach about back-to-school supplies essentials but also encourage self-expression and creativity!

Activity 1: Back to School Paper Chain

Paper Chain Templates included:

• Colored with pictures and questions
• Colored pictures only
• Colored blank
• Black and white with pictures and questions
• Black and white pictures only
• Black and white blank

Paper Chain Instructions:

• Print on regular paper
• Glue
• Scissors

• Have students write about themselves on each strip of the paper chain. Questions may include their name, how they identify, age, favorite color, preferred fruit, favorite book or story, and their favorite superhero.
• Instruct them to cut each strip and start the chain by forming the first strip into a circle. As this is the beginning of the school year, some kids may not know how to use safety scissors or how to cut. You can prepare the pre-cut strips ahead of time and/or help them write their responses if needed. Continue by gluing the next strip inside the first circle.
• Use the templates in color or black and white to effortlessly create a vibrant paper chain.

Activity 2: Cut and Paste School Supplies Puzzle

Puzzle Instructions:

• Printed puzzle sheets (color, black & white, or template) on regular paper
• Scissors
• Glue 

• Cut out the school supplies images from the printed puzzle sheets. As this is the beginning of the school year, some kids may not know how to use safety scissors or how to cut. You can prepare some pre-cut strips ahead of time to be ready for the kids that may need them!
• Paste each school supply item in its correct space on the puzzle sheet.
• Use the black and white version to color the supplies for an added creative touch.

Activity 3: School Supplies Crown Craft

Crown Craft Instructions:

• Printed crown templates (color, black & white, or template) on regular paper or cardstock
• Coloring tools
• Scissors
• Glue

• Print the crown templates in color, black & white, or use the blank template for a custom design.
• Write your name on the crown.
• Cut and glue the crown pieces together. As this is the beginning of the school year, some kids may not know how to use safety scissors or how to cut. You can prepare some pre-cut crowns ahead of time to be ready for the kids that may need them!
• Color the black and white version or add your artistic touch to the template version.
